ETH Zurich launches new study programme "Master of Science in Quantum Engineering"
The Departments of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and of Physics at ETH Zurich launch their new study programme “Master of Science in Quantum Engineering” in Autumn 2019. With this programme, the departments respond to the growing demand of quantum engineers with both a solid training in electrical engineering and quantum science.
Companies and research centres around the world are currently ramping up activities to tap the application potential of quantum mechanics. To train the specialised workforce required in this endeavour, the new programme is realised jointly by the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and the Department of Physics at ETH, a leading player in the generation and control of quantum states in platforms including trapped ions, atoms or superconducting circuits. These systems exhibit non-classical effects, such as entanglement and superposition, which are harnessed by quantum technology to outperform classical systems in areas including precision measurements, sensing and information processing.
